Just a Teaser from Lindsay Rohrbaugh of the Exciting Story of Climbing in SE Asia to Come...
So, I had Southeast Asia in mind to visit on my annual month long trip for 2015. I accidentally booked the trip for 2016! Once I got that squared away, I was a few days off schedule so I scheduled some climbing in Halong Bay. My trip started climbing in Halong Bay, Vietnam. After a few days at Halong Bay, I headed back to Hanoi to started my cultural journey. I had not planned to climb anywhere else, but then we found ourselves in Luang Prabang for a few days. The main attraction was to go tubing from bar to bar. I, however, found out there was a climbing service and made my way there to go climbing for a day. After slipping in a cave the day before (yes, looking for bats and the like), I had a nasty cut, so thought climbing was better than tubing. Until I learned started the approach…But moving onto Thailand. We had one day in Chang Mai, and rather than seeing the elephants (a toss up for me as you know), I decided to climb at Crazy Horse. Super awesome and met an amazing guide and guiding service. Cambodia was all about Angkor Wat - so amazing! The final leg was back in Vietnam where I found myself alone again, back on a bus, boat, bus to Halong Bay for some more climbing and deep water soloing! After 4 weeks, I headed home, with many memories, photos and a bruised tailbone!
