On 11-12 April 2015 PATC-MS and Friends of Seneca will hold our Spring Trail Work Weekend at Seneca Rocks.
While we do have a few easier tasks, please be prepared for hard work.
At this event we will have crews working on the following items:
-Continue work on the East Ridge Trail (aka Cardiac Hill).
-Trail work on the East Ridge Connector Trail (from the ridge across the gully to the base of the East Face).
-Maintenance on the Lower Slabs Trail.
-Blocking off the social trail/scramble up to the base of Candy Corner/Drop Zone. Also involves improvements to the staircase and existing trail.
-Checking and resupplying the First Aid boxes/rescue cache and clearing out any smaller "tree issues" that occurred over the winter on approach trails.
Registration is limited to 25 volunteers.
This is the max amount of people we can safely coordinate.
Note that you DO NOT need to be a member of PATC-MS to register and help out!
We will
meet at 8am at the Gendarme on Saturday and Sunday
mornings. Quitting time on Saturday is around 4pm. Dinner on Saturday night will be provided by Friends of Seneca at the Gendarme.
Bring work gloves, water and a lunch. Wear pants with good hiking shoes or work boots. Safety glasses and helmets highly recommended as well.
Climbing on Sunday is possible, but not guaranteed; it depends how much progress is made on Saturday.
PATC-MS has reserved Group Site D at Seneca Shadows for all trail work volunteers to use on Friday and Saturday nights. There is limited parking at the site. If it's full, drop off your stuff and park at the walk-in area. It's a short walk on the trail through the woods to the site. Please be sure to tear-down on Sunday morning before you leave as we need to be out of the site by 1pm.
Please contact Andy Weinmann if you've never been to Seneca or have any other questions. An email will go out to all attendees once we get a little closer. We'll coordinate transportation arrangements, etc.
