CANCELLED – Sugarloaf Top-Roping and Trad Trip

May 14, 2022 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Free

Due to weather, this 5/14 Event CANCELLED
Join PATC-MS for a day of climbing at Sugarloaf Mountain, a trad and top roping area with a short approach. Most, if not all, of the climbs can be top-roped using natural anchors. The rock is white quartzite mixed with other softer rock compounds.

Please bring your top rope set up (if you have it), belay device, harness, helmet, trad gear, etc. Bring a lunch and water as well.

If you haven’t been to Sugarloaf before, the entrance/parking situation can be a little confusing. Please bring $5 cash to donate at the entrance (encouraged but not required). Little known fact – Sugarloaf Mountain is privately owned non-profit and depends on  donations from people like us to stay open. It is also a trash free park, so pack it in pack it out. There are port-a-potties at the parking lot, bring some hand sanitizer if you plan to make use of them.
The plan for the hike is to meet at the West View Parking lot at 8am. If you plug it into your GPS, you will be fine, just follow the instructions. If you get lost, call Joe. We will assemble at the picnic tables by the parking lot (impossible to miss).
To cancel your reservation, go back to the event page scroll down to the RSVP portion. Click the red “view your RSVP” text and it will take you to another page where you can change your RSVP from “going” to “not going”.
Please note that this is not a guided event and none of our trip leaders are professional guides. You will be climbing on ropes set up by members of the club who are hobby climbers and not professionals. Climbing is an inherently dangerous sport and you do so at your own risk. You are responsible for yourself and your own safety at all times.
