Annapolis Rocks Trad and Top Rope Trip
June 17 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pmFree
Join PATC-MS for a day of climbing at Annapolis Rock. Annapolis Rock is a quartzite crag in South Mountain State Park. It is known for its horizontal fractures which make for a variety of easy, moderate, and difficult face and roof routes. This event will be limited to PATC-MS members and capped at 14 climbers. It is open to all levels, but you need to know how to belay. You do not need to bring a partner for this event unless you are trad climbing.
The club will meet at 8 a.m. the Appalachian Trailhead Parking on Route 40, just outside of Myersville, Maryland. If you are late, please let the trip leader know.
Every time we have an event at Annapolis Rock, someone goes to the wrong trailhead 30 minutes away. Don’t let it happen to you! Use the link above and/or the address and map below. Please bring a harness, helmet, belay device, top rope set up if you have it, and any trad gear if you have it. The hike in is about 2.5 and it is all uphill, so bring lots of water and trekking poles (optional) to make your life easier. Pack a lunch as well. Please cancel your registration if you are no longer able to attend – this event will fill up quickly so let someone else have your spot if you can’t make it.
Please note that this is not a guided event and none of our trip leaders are professional guides. You will be climbing on ropes set up by members of the club who are hobby climbers and not professionals. Climbing is an inherently dangerous sport and you do so at your own risk. You are responsible for yourself and your own safety at all times.
To cancel your reservation, go back to the event page scroll down to the RSVP portion. Click the red “view your RSVP” text and it will take you to another page where you can change your RSVP from “going” to “not going”.
If wanting to use the “guest” function for sign up, please make sure that your guest has signed a club waiver.
