Fall Camping and Climbing Weekend
September 22 - September 24
Join PATC-MS and the Explorer’s Club of Pittsburgh for a weekend of climbing at Shaffer Rock, a top roping crag, and/or Pond Bank, a trad crag, in South Central District Pennsylvania. We will be camping at the Chinquapin Hill area of Caledonia State Park in Pennsylvania and there are a number of restaurants in the immediate area.
New climbers are welcome, but we are attempting to ensure there is an appropriate ratio of new to experienced climbers. There is no RSVP for this event, all registrations will be handled through the trip application process. Applications will close on June 23 and participants will be notified of selection by July 1st. Everyone who wants to participate in the trip, including family members with a family membership must complete the application. Just note that you’re planning to come with the other person so we’re aware.
The club will make campsite reservations and you will need to reimburse the club to complete your reservation for the trip. We estimate the trip cost will be $34/person.
Please note that this is not a guided event and none of our trip leaders are professional guides. You will be climbing on ropes set up by members of the club who are hobby climbers and not professionals. Climbing is an inherently dangerous sport and you do so at your own risk. You are responsible for yourself and your own safety at all times.
