Rappel and Anchor Cleaning Clinic at Carderock

October 6, 2021 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

PATC-MS will hold a clinic on rappelling and anchor cleaning (particularly it relates to sport climbing) at the July Carderock First Wednesday. He’ll share multiple rappelling approaches and how to safely clean anchors when sport climbing.

The clinic will meet at the bulletin board located at the trail end near the top of the cliff

No outdoor climbing experience is necessary, but you should be proficient in belaying.

In keeping with social distancing guidelines, we are capping total attendance for the clinic at 8.

What: The Potomac Appalachian Trail Club Mountaineering Section (PATC-MS) will host social top rope climbing and training for outdoor skills every first Wednesday of every month at Carderock as local guidance allows. This continues our historic Carderock First Wednesdays.

Bring: Please bring your own climbing shoes, harness, and belay device.  The club will provide a few ropes, but bring your top rope setup if you have one.

Please also bring a mask and hand sanitizer, and plan to wear a mask when not climbing.

Reminder:
Climbing is a dangerous sport and serious injury may occur.  By participating in this trip you assume all risk of responsibility for your own safety.
