Rocks State Park
September 24, 2022
FreeJoin PATC-MS on September 24 for a day of climbing at Rocks State Park at the King and Queen seat. Rocks State Park is one of Maryland’s local crags and is good for top-rope and lead climbing if you are solid for the grade.
We will meet at the purple trailhead, or the Rapids Area Parking and Trailhead at 8 AM.
Who: Open to experienced climbers! We will be rappelling into Breakaway wall.
Bring your climbing shoes, harness, helmet, belay/rappel device, and prusik cord. Also, bring 2 liters of water per person and food that you want. You must also pack out your trash at this park!
If you have any/all of these items, please also bring them:
- Top-rope set-up (i.e. static line, gear, webbing, dynamic ropes, locking carabiners)
- Trad gear if you choose to lead
- Guidebook
- Sunscreen/bug spray
- Belay gloves
When: Meet at the parking lot by 8:00 AM For people unfamiliar with the area, there are multiple parking lots and cell reception can be spotty at the parking lots. If you don’t arrive on time, you may have a hard time finding the group. This crag is VERY popular with hikers on weekends.
Where: Rocks State Park near Jarrettsville, MD.
