Join PATC-MS for a weekend of climbing at Seneca Rocks, WV. Group Campsite F at Seneca Shadows has been reserved for the club for Friday and Saturday night. Parking is very limited on site. Additional parking is available in the overflow lot, but a fee will be collected on site for parking there. Carpool if you can. Please do not no-show because that takes a paid for camping spot from another member. Bring a pot of chili to participate in the cook off at the Gendarme on Saturday. Standard rules apply: $5 entry, winner takes all. Have your chili ready for judging by 5:30.

Please note this is not an instructional event and Seneca is a sport and trad climbing area only (very limited sport climbing). There is no trip leader for this event. This is not a beginner friendly event. Please do not show up at the campsite without a partner and expect another party to take you in. You must arrange a climbing partner in advance or else you will be hiking all weekend. It is your responsibility to find a vet and climbing partner. A good practice would be to top rope outside or at least meet someone at a climbing gym before trusting your life to them at a place like Seneca Rocks. Even experienced trad climbers have difficulty navigating Seneca Rocks if they have never been there before. Be extra wary of partners you meet on Whatsapp or Facebook groups. 

If you can’t find a partner and you still want to come, consider hiring any of the excellent guide services in the area. They tend to book up a month or two in advance, so please make a reservation before you show up. You will not be able to hire anyone the weekend of the event.

Due to the high number of accidental double sign ups and people bringing non-members and randos on club trips, we ask that people do not use the guest RSVP feature for trips (unfortunately we can’t turn this feature off on the website). The exception to this rule is family memberships, as the website functionality does not allow for sub-accounts at this time.

To cancel your reservation, go back to the event page scroll down to the RSVP portion. Click the red “view your RSVP” text and it will take you to another page where you can change your RSVP from “going” to “not going”. If you cancel your RSVP the day before the trip or the morning of, please text the trip leader and let them know. The website does not notify trip leaders when someone changes their RSVP. Failure to notify the trip leader after cancelling your RSVP last minute will count as a no-show.

Please note that this is not a guided event and none of our trip leaders are professional guides. Climbing is an inherently dangerous sport and you do so at your own risk. You are responsible for yourself and your own safety at all times.
