Sport climbing trip in Rumney Rocks, NH
October 14, 2022 - October 16, 2022
FreeThis is a weekend sport climbing trip to Rumney Rocks, “one of the premier sport climbing destinations in the country” (Mountain Project), located in New Hampshire. There are an abundance of routes of all grades, from 5.3 to 5.15. It should be a glorious weekend to be outdoors with Fall colors at their peak.
For lodging, I suggest Rumney Rattlesnake Campground, which has discounted lodging for American Alpine Club members. You can book campsites for tenting or a bunkbed in the dorm (the latter has a kitchen and living room).
Drive time from DC is about 9 hours. Carpooling is suggested due to toll roads. (The trip organizer, Leo, will be in the area for work the week before, but can provide rides back to the DC area for 2-3 people.)
Required equipment: harness, helmet, shoes, and a personal anchor system or lanyard (I have a spare lanyard I can loan).
Optional equipment: 60+ meters of dynamic rope, a rack of quick draws (I have both).
Please note that this is not a guided event and none of our trip leaders are professional guides. You will be climbing on ropes set up by members of the club who are hobby climbers and not professionals. Climbing is an inherently dangerous sport and you do so at your own risk. You are responsible for yourself and your own safety at all times.
