This First Wednesday is an informal club meetup for members only. There is no RSVP for this event. Please set up a top rope if you are able. Bring your climbing shoes, harness, and helmet for an evening of climbing at Carderock. Please wear your red PATC shirt if you have it, or any red shirt.
If the weather looks bad, we will make the call to cancel the event at 2pm the day of. Check the Whatsapp group if the weather is questionable.
Please note that this is not a guided event and none of our trip leaders are professional guides. You will be climbing on ropes set up by members of the club who are hobby climbers and not professionals. Climbing is an inherently dangerous sport and you do so at your own risk. You are responsible for yourself and your own safety at all times.

Carderock Recreation Area is on the Potomac River just outside the 495 Beltway. Carderock is part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park and is well known for top rope climbing and hiking. The Potomac Mountain Club has published a guidebook to Carderock.
To access the climbing at Carderock, park in the north most parking lot and follow the trail westwards past the toilet that leads down to the base of the cliffs. The climbing is only several hundred yards from the parking lot.
Note that cars have been broken into in this parking lot so do not leave valuables in your car.
