Upcoming Sugarloaf/Annapolis Rocks/Thurmont Watershed Toproping – September 27 or 28

This is a top roping trip to Sugarloaf/Annapolis Rocks/Thurmont Watershed on September 27 or 28.

Date and destination will be chosen based on the answers to the registration questions. All three destinations are in Maryland and  offer 40 – 50ft routes on good rock. September 28 can also be a rain date.

It is being run as a ‘ leaderless’ Club trip where there is no formal leader [currently] assigned.  The intention is for the trip to be managed by the members signing up, so we need someone to step up and act as – at minimum – a coordinator to arrange car pooling, ensure there are sufficient TR setups etc, possibly set up a WhatsApp chat group for those registering.

There are a number of questions at registration that need to be answered – failure to do so will result in your registration being cancelled.  The questions are intended to ensure there is sufficient experience and TR setups amongst those attending.

Meeting details will be arranged depending on the final crag choice.

Sugarloaf is the closest crag and is roughly an hour’s drive from DC.  The climbing is a short walk from the parking lot.

Thurmont Watershed is roughly an hour’s drive from DC and a 20 minute walk from the parking lot.

Annapolis Rocks is an hour’s drive from DC followed by an hour’s walk along the Appalachian trail.

The event may be cancelled if the experience level of participants isn’t adequate, because of low participation, weather conditions [rain/too hot], or the lack of a coordinator.

Cancellations

Please cancel your registration if you are no longer able to attend  so that someone else can have your spot.  To do this, contact the trip organizer and the webmaster.

If you do not contact the trip organizer or webmaster, this counts as a no-show. If you no show once, you will get an email from the Chair. If you do not show up twice, you will not be allowed to sign up for another event for 3 months. If you continue to not show up, your membership will be cancelled and refunded.

Please note that this is not a guided event and none of our trip organizers are professional guides. You will be climbing with members of the club who are hobby climbers and not professionals. Climbing is an inherently dangerous sport and you do so at your own risk. You are responsible for yourself and your own safety at all times.
