This is a mid-week sport climbing trip to the Smoke Hole Canyon in West Virginia, east of Seneca Rocks and the North Fork Mountain/Germany Valley. It is about a 3-3.5 hour drive from Washington DC. The 2025 PATC-MS/PMC Birthday and Holiday Party will be held from 3-6 pm on November 15 at the Carderock Pavilion. There will be climbing, weather permitting, beforehand. This is a three day trip to the Schwangunks, a trad climbing area about 80 miles north of New York City. The idea is to arrive Thursday evening (~5 1/2 hours driving time), pitch tents at the AAC campground, climb full days on Friday and Saturday; Sunday break up camp, climb 1/2 day, drive back. (more…)
