Join PATC-MS for two days of sport climbing in West Virginia. We will explore Reeds Creek and/or Smoke Hole Canyon, two areas with an abundance of moderately graded sport routes on limestone cliffs.

The plan is to head into the area Friday to set up camp and carpool to the crag the following days for some climbing. When you RSVP, please indicate if you plan to camp with the group in the event form so we can reserve the appropriate number of spots. Camping is recommended to facilitate communication and coordinate carpooling since cell service will be spotty and parking is limited at the crags. Climbing will be approximately a 10 minute drive from camp.

In addition to any camping and food/water supplies for the weekend, climbers should bring their own personal gear (harness, helmet, shoes, chalk bag, and belay device), 8-10 quick draws, and a 60-70m rope, or indicate what gear they may need in the event form.

Climbers must be comfortable giving a lead belay and should have some lead climbing experience (indoors or outdoors).

Please note that this is not a guided event and none of our trip leaders are professional guides. You will be climbing on ropes set up by members of the club who are hobby climbers and not professionals. We do not vet or test any of our members’ belaying skills; only climb with people you trust. Climbing is an inherently dangerous sport and you do so at your own risk. You are responsible for yourself and your own safety at all times.
