The Club has changed Carderock Wednesday to Carderock Weekday Climbing. The event as listed is for Wednesday, but because of factors like rain, heat, and smoke, we’ll pick the best climbing day of the week.
Bring your climbing shoes, harness, and helmet for an evening of climbing at Carderock. Please wear your red PMC shirt if you have it, or any red shirt.
From 3:30 pm onward, several experienced PMC members will set up topropes for members to climb. If you have a toprope setup, please bring it. If you are not familiar with Carderock, ask the people present what you should set, and ask for help if needed.
This event is for Club Members – waivers and all that – and you don’t need to register.
However, because we may relocate to a gym session in the event of bad weather so it would be very useful to sign up so we can contact you in the event of a cancellation. That way we know whom to contact.

Carderock Recreation Area is on the Potomac River just outside the 495 Beltway. Carderock is part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park and is well known for top rope climbing and hiking. The Potomac Mountain Club has published a guidebook to Carderock.
To access the climbing at Carderock, park in the north most parking lot and follow the trail westwards past the toilet that leads down to the base of the cliffs. The climbing is only several hundred yards from the parking lot.
Note that cars have been broken into in this parking lot so do not leave valuables in your car.
