Carderock First Wednesday climbing will begin at 4pm with set up beginning at 3 pm. If you have a toprope setup please bring this…..the climbing is for Club Members only – waivers and all that – but guests are welcome at the meeting afterwards.
Bring your climbing shoes, harness, and helmet for an evening of climbing at Carderock. Please wear your red PATC shirt if you have it, or any red shirt.

This will start at 6pm. We will have this meeting at the picnic tables near the shelter. This is weather dependent; cancellation will be announced on WhatsApp, FB and our website.
The topic of this meeting will be climbing at the local area crags.
We will provide a list of crags with some information on each and experienced club members will give the highlights of each crag. Total time will be under 30 minutes. .
The club will provide pizza. We would like you to REGISTER on the website – sign up for a ticket – to give us an idea of how much pizza to order, but registration is not formally required.

Carderock Recreation Area is on the Potomac River just outside the 495 Beltway. Carderock is part of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal National Historical Park and is well known for top rope climbing and hiking. The Potomac Mountain Club has published a guidebook to Carderock.
To access the climbing at Carderock, park in the north most parking lot and follow the trail westwards past the toilet that leads down to the base of the cliffs. The climbing is only several hundred yards from the parking lot.
Note that cars have been broken into in this parking lot so do not leave valuables in your car.
Social Events are often held at the Carderock Pavilion. This is near the parking lots you first encounter when entering Carderock
