Let’s hit up Elizabeth Furnace-Talking Headwall! It’s a smallish sport crag with a few good routes. Hopefully it cools off a bit before this trip, but just down the road from the parking lot is a most excellent swimming hole to jump in after climbing. There is a Rakkup Guide and climbing information on Mountainproject
If you’ve never climbed outside…great! This is an easy intro to climbing outside.
Meeting Place and Time
24 Aug 2025 07:30 at the Centerville park and ride.
It’s a little under an hour’s drive to Centerville, where we can car pool. We’ll climb until mid-afternoonish. If you need to drive separately there’s parking just past the crag
Minimum equipment
You’ll need belay device, harness, helmet, water, bug spray, dry pair of clothes/towel
Bring your sport and/or trad leading gear if you like as well. It is possible to set up topropes for most of the climbs from above.
Trip is being led by Matt Ziegler ziggy122 at yahoo.com. A Whatsapp group will be set up for coordination once the event is full.
Registration
Since it’s not that big of an area we’ll limit the attendees to seven. Registration opens 2 Aug at 8 pm.
If you can’t make it the morning of the event, at least give the trip leader a courtesy call so that
no one is waiting for you in the parking lot.
Please cancel your registration if you are no longer able to attend so someone can have your
spot. If you no show once, you will get an email from the Chair. If you no show twice, you will
not be allowed to sign up for another event for 3 months. If you continue to no show, your
membership will be cancelled and refunded.
Please note that this is not a guided event and none of our trip leaders are professional guides.
You will be climbing on ropes set up by members of the club who are hobby climbers and not
professionals. Climbing is an inherently dangerous sport and you do so at your own risk. You
are responsible for yourself and your own safety at all times.
Please ensure you are logged in to the website BEFORE trying to sign up for an event.
