Title: Mountain Performance for Female Bodies: Notes for Training Through All Phases of Life

Topic: In this talk, we will dive into the physiology of the female body and what this means for training for your next mountain objective. The research is rapidly evolving, having increased by 50% in just a couple of years—from 4% to 6% of the overall training literature. That’s not a lot to work with. But we do have a strong understanding of the basics of biology, and with this and some shared stories, we can build a strong training plan that is both supportive and responsive to our individual needs. Bring your notebook and be ready to sketch a basic outline for your next training block, with some basic monitoring tools to help you push at the right time, rest when you need it, and fuel and hydrate for the short and long term.

Non-Profit: TBD

Speaker: Lyra is a 41-year old IFMGA licensed mountain guide, and the 18th American woman to achieve this level of certification. Challenges early in her career as a vocational athlete required creative training solutions, well beyond the resources she had cultivated as a lifelong competitive athlete. Her searches and studies eventually led her to get another certification as a NSCA Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and continue her education with the rapidly evolving science of female performance physiology. Now in her literal and figurative prime years of life, she’s excited to share as much as she can with those looking to nurture their athletic nature. Owner of MOVEmentum Training, Lyra works with athletes of all genders and levels to advance their climbing and mountaineering training.
