Registration re-opens Tuesday September 17 8:00am. Chris Close and Ana Mills will lead a fall backpacking trip the weekend of October 26-27 in the northern section of Shenandoah National Park. A solid 22 miles over two days, with lots of elevation gain – M-Con style! (If you know, you know, and if you don’t know, join the next M-Con!) SNP limits backpacking groups to 10, so registration will be limited to 8 people with 2 group leaders. Participants need a minimum intermediate level of experience. Intermediate = you have prior overnight backpacking experience and a good fitness base (ex: you can carry a ~30 lb pack for 10 miles/day). Sorry, no backpacking beginners on this trip (but keep an eye out for future events!) Participants should be self-sufficient and prepared to carry full pack weight with all the backpacking essentials (tent, sleeping pad, sleeping bag, cooking equipment, clothes, food, water purification, SNACKS, etc.) It’s a dry camp, but there is water access on trail. Car pooling is encouraged and tent sharing is mandatory to limit the trail impact. Hammocks and bivys are also doable. Open to the entire PATC-MS club (not just M-Con participants).
