This experience is for people with NO Trad climbing experience, yet would really like to dip your toes into trad and see what it’s all about.  The weekend offers twelve new trad climbers an opportunity to climb with experienced PMC members at Seneca Rocks, a premier trad climbing destination in West Virginia. This training is for climbers who wish to enter the wonderful world of Trad Climbing. You must be experienced in belaying, either inside or outside.  You must be able to rappel.

Day 1 is ground school, where you will learn and practice anchor building, gear placement, and rope management. Day 2 you will climb with a mentor. We will gather at 9am Saturday morning and go until 6 pm.  Sunday will be an 8 am start, until 4 pm.

You will need to be at Seneca on the evening of Friday 21 August to allow for a prompt start on Saturday.

You will need the usual personal equipment…harness, rock shoes, helmet, ATC and locking carabiners [ at least 2], nut key, PAS or similar leash to clip into anchors, a small backpack, water, snacks and approach shoes or hiking boots.

Car pooling and a WhatsApp Chat to coordinate arrangements will be set up closer to the date.  Camping at Seneca Shadows will be provided by PMC.

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY UNLESS YOU ARE COMMITTED TO COMING AND THE DATE IS FREE OF OTHER OBLIGATIONS.  DO NOT APPLY BECAUSE IT SOUNDS LIKE FUN BUT IF SOMETHING BETTER COMES ALONG, YOU’LL BAIL.
