Sold Out Annapolis Rock Top Roping

Join PATC-MS for a day of climbing at Annapolis Rock. Annapolis Rock is a quartzite crag in South Mountain State Park. It is known for its horizontal fractures which make for a variety of easy, moderate, and difficult face and roof routes. Annapolis Rock is both great for top roping but also an excellent place for trad climbing. It is open to all levels, but you need to know how to belay.  You do not need to bring a partner for this event unless you are trad climbing. This event will be limited to PATC-MS members and capped at 12 climbers.

The club will meet at 8 a.m. the Annapolis Rock & Black Rock Cliff Appalachian Trailhead Parking on Route 40, just outside of Myersville, Maryland. If you are late, you must let the trip leader know. The parking lot is small, so please try to carpool if you can.  Many people meet up to carpool at the Julius West Middle School, which is conveniently on the way to AR. Every time we have an event at Annapolis Rock, someone goes to the wrong trailhead 30 minutes away. Don’t let it happen to you! Use the link above and/or the address and map below.

Please bring a harness, helmet, belay device, top rope set up and/or any trad gear if you have it. The hike in is about 2.5 and it is all uphill, so bring lots of water and trekking poles (optional) to make your life easier. Pack a lunch as well.

Please cancel your registration if you are no longer able to attend – this event will fill up quickly so let someone else have your spot if you can’t make it. You must notify the trip leader if you are no longer coming. Not notifying the trip leader at all before the start of the trip will lead to being barred from future trips.

Please note that this is not a guided event and none of our trip leaders are professional guides. You will be climbing on ropes set up by members of the club who are hobby climbers and not professionals. Climbing is an inherently dangerous sport and you do so at your own risk. You are responsible for yourself and your own safety at all times.
