Coopers Rock/Cheat River Canyon July 24 – 26

Coopers Rock and the Cheat River Canyon area offer a range of gritstone climbing 3 hours from DC. Most climbers in the area are aware of the bouldering at Coopers Rock, but there is also plentiful sport, trad, and toprope climbing available as well. This is a top roping trip to a local area – Great Falls/Sugarloaf/Annapolis Rocks/Thurmont Watershed on July 25 or 26 Great Falls is in Virginia and the other three destinations are in Maryland and  all offer 40 – 50ft routes on good rock. Shaffer Rocks Top Roping Sunday July 26

(Rescheduled from June 27) Shaffer Rocks is predominantly a top-roping crag located in Michaux State Forest in Pennsylvania, about 90 minutes from the beltway at Bethesda. The crag has 30+ routes around 60ft in height from 5.3 to 5.11+. The classics are generally 5.6 to 5.10.The rock is a good quality Weverton quartzite that dries quickly (more…)

Chili Cook Off-The Gendarme Seneca Rocks, WVA Oct. 16-18th 2026

The annual chili cook-off will be held October 17 at the Gendarme.  Bring your best chili effort, pay $5 to enter, and take home the pot if your recipe wows the judges.
