Directions to Trailhead
From Washington, DC: take the Dulles Toll Road from the Beltway (495) to the terminus ($3.50) to Route 7 WEST towards Purcellville, past Round Hill. You’ll pass Williams GAP, then about 1.2 miles further UP route 7 you’ll come to the intersection of Blue Ridge Mountain Road and Raven Rocks Road ROUTE 601 at the top of the HILL. TURN RIGHT From Route-7, Head north on RT 601. Just after WV line ABOUT 1.5 TO 2 MILES, you’ll come to a Gate on the Left hand side of the road, with the Microwave Tower as well up in the distance.

Alternate Approach:
To avoid access issues in exchange for a longer hike in; continue down Rt. 7 and park at the Appalachian Trail parking then hike the AT North until reaching the top of the out crops.

Parking
Park OFF the road way and only park on the gate side of the road and NOTE the NO PARKING SIGNS.
There is strong anti-visitor sentiment by the locals who don’t want anyone in the area.
Until we investigate the right of way thorough-way of this municipal road please observe these signs.
Hike in Approach
Cross the gate, walk on the gravel road for about a mile towards the Microwave tower. Walk right up to the fence at the tower and then turn left and look up to see white and or yellow blazes to mark the Appalachian Trail.
Follow the trail up until you are on the AT. You can either go UPHILL on the AT or Downhill towards the valley…GO DOWN HILL TOWARDS THE VALLEY FOR ABOUT 10-15 MINUTES
